Yes it happened!!!
Well… It Finally Happened. 💔
I got the message that every small handmade business owner dreads…
One of my bowls arrived broken.
And this was actually my first bowl to ever arrive broken, so I’m not going to lie—it felt a little personal. 😔
I know it’s just a bowl. I know things can be remade and replaced. But when you make something with your own hands, package it up carefully, mark it FRAGILE, and send it off to someone who is excited to receive it… you picture them opening that box and seeing something beautiful they can put in their home.
You don’t picture them opening it to broken pieces.
Thankfully, my customer was so incredibly sweet and understanding about the whole thing, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that. ❤️ Of course, I made it right, but it still bummed me out knowing that her excitement of opening that package wasn’t what it should have been.
I guess this is one of those growing pains that comes with having a small business. Packages get tossed around. Things happen that are completely out of our control—even when that big FRAGILE sticker is staring somebody right in the face. 😂
So as I’m learning and growing this little business, just bear with me through the process. Every experience teaches me how to package a little better, protect things a little more, and prepare for things I didn’t necessarily expect.
But there’s one thing I never want to compromise along the way: my integrity.
If you trust me enough to spend your hard-earned money on something I’ve created, then I want you to know I take that seriously. My responsibility to you doesn’t end the minute your package leaves my hands.
I value my customers more than I value my merchandise.
A bowl can be remade.
A package can be reshipped.
But the trust someone puts in my small business means so much more to me. ❤️
And on the brighter side, God is good. This wasn’t the end of the world. It was a lesson, a very gracious customer, and another opportunity for me to grow.
So I’ll learn from it, probably buy enough bubble wrap to cover my entire house 😂, get my hands back in the cement, and make another one.
To my sweet customer—thank you for being so kind and understanding. And to everyone who has supported this little dream of mine, thank you for bearing with me as I learn and grow.
Things can be replaced. People matter more. ❤️
